PROJECT 3 PERIOD ELEMENTS
INTRODUCTION
My assigned theme for this project was 'Victorian Cookery'. We researched in groups to start off with which really helped because everyone had different knowledge and facts of the Victorian Era that I probably wouldn't have been able to find on my own.
MOODBOARD
After researching into general things like the industrial revolution and class differences, I honed in on something more specific: inventions and machinery. I had a vision of my whole design being a working machine in the background whilst people cooked in the foreground
INITIAL IDEAS
For my initial sketches I was experimenting with different cog shapes and rostras I could have in the middle of the stage. I also had this idea of having conveyor belts on one side of the design, which would be moving Victorian food.
WHITE MODELLING
I got straight into making the cogs with foamboard and card and also started experimenting with some wire which I was hoping to use to connect all the cogs together.
This was quite a random addition to my project, and I was told it didn't really fit in with the rest because it wasn't prevalent enough to the Victorian Era. I kept it in because it linked a bit to the cooking part. I took certain patterns from the plate, drew them and arranged them into a wallpaper for my studio.
TECHNICAL DRAWING
For my first attempt at technical drawing I was quite happy with the outcome. I found it quite confusing at first but got the hang of it quite quickly. This one could definitely have some more detail and some parts needed to be darker. I should also work on getting more notes on the page.

FINAL MODEL
The final outcome for this project was quite successful. I was told I needed to push it a bit further, as the final model wasn't as exciting as my sketches were at the beginning. I should've had a bit more 'fun' with it. The rostra in the middle was also a bit over scaled and should've been smaller, and it could've done with some more designs on the sides as it is a lot of blank empty black space. The shiny floor worked really well and I achieved the reflection of the cogs and wallpaper that I wanted.
